About Smallfry
Smallfry is an independent start-up aiming to elevate and celebrate the classic takeaway, fish and chips. Born from a passion for modern food culture and a commitment to revitalising a cherished aspect of Britain’s culinary heritage, Smallfry seeks to offer a fresh and innovative twist on this beloved dish.

The van - Diana
SmallFry operates out of a 2007 Mercedes Vario, a former mobile library and charity food store. This well-maintained and distinctive van is the cornerstone of SmallFry. It features industry leading equipment, including a high-efficiency burning range and a custom counter crafted from innovative, recycled materials. The vans conversion was expertly handled by the leading vehicle conversion specialists, Amobox. We affectionately named the van “Diana."
Our Service
Our standard operating procedures will guide us through designated routes across various locations in Leicester during the week. On the weekends, we often partner with local businesses and participate in events and festivals.

The Routes
On Wednesday, we’ll be operating in Billesdon, Houghton on the Hill, and Thurnby. On Thursday, our route will take us through Woodhouse Eaves, Cropston, and Rothley. On Friday, we’ll be in Knighton, Stoneygate, and Clarendon Park. Saturday will find us in Wigston and Oadby. At SmallFry, we are truly passionate about food—especially fish and chips! Here are our ‘non-negotiables' that we uphold for every customer:
Our fish is a prime cut, sourced directly from Grimsby Fish Market, and is carefully prepared and stored to guarantee maximum freshness and flavour. Our exclusive batter is light and crispy, boasting a deep golden colour and a subtle flavour that beautifully complements the sweetness of the cod. We serve only the highest quality chips, sourced from the rich agricultural lands of Britain. Our cooking fat is sustainable, GM-free, and meets a variety of dietary, religious, and allergen needs. Each serving is finished with a slice of fresh lemon, real vinegar, and freshly milled sea salt.

Allergens
To ensure you have the best dining experience with SmallFry, we’re happy to provide information about allergens related to our cooking process. Before placing your order, please ask a member of our staff to show you the SmallFry allergen chart. We also have allergen keys available next to our menu on the van and listed on the website.​​
Suppliers
The sourcing of our ingredients is just as important as the ingredients themselves. We take pride in partnering with some of the finest suppliers in the industry. Our fish is sourced directly from the Atlantic Ocean through Grimsby Port, while our chips are locally grown. We use vegan products from leading British brands and craft our sauces in our Portland Cottage Kitchen. Whenever possible, we also seek to collaborate with other award-winning suppliers, such as our partnership with Wigston Deli.
